Asus Zenpad 10 launched back In June 2015 was a pretty great device for its price and what specs it offered back then. But, there was one caveat for paying a cheaper price. The phone came with lots & lots of Chinese bloatware and some people even complained not being able to use any Google app because of constant Google Services Crashing. Due to these issues, lots of people emailed Asus to let them Root their Asus Zenpad 10 so that they can remove the bloatware and make the tablet faster by overclocking, etc. Though most of the users never got any response and those who did were highly dissatisfied with it.

NOTE: The whole credit for the methods given below goes to XDA Users reaktor TuT & InvisiBot it was them who did the whole rough tutorial over at XDA. I’ve just edited & rewrote some parts to make the tutorial more understandable for newcomers. If you want to thank someone. Thank them!
Although This method should work on nearly every Asus Zenpad 10 Model out there. I only have a few Root Image file for specific models so just make sure that your Zenpad 10 model is on this list.

How To Find My Device Model? Simple, Just Go To Settings > About Tablet > Model
NOTE: This guide is freaking long and it took me forever to piece together different steps from different guides all the while making it easier enough for a normal person to understand. That’s why this guide is longer than your usual rooting guides. There was a lot of things to do in order to root that goddam thing that I have divided this guide into Four Short Parts.
- 1: Installing Asus Zenpad 10 USB Drivers.
- 2: Rooting Asus Zenpad 10 Using ADB.
- 3: Confirming Root Access Via RootChecker.
- 4: Installing SuperSU In Asus Zenpad 10.
If you’ve for example, already have installed the USB Drivers for your tab in your PC then you can skip the first part and directly start from the Rooting Process and vice versa. This process is going to be tough, But trust me it’ll be worth it!
With that being said, Good Luck & Have Fun!
Installing Zenpad 10 USB Drivers
Step 1: First Of All Download the Asus Zenpad 10 Rooting-Kit From My Google Drive. (Credit Reaktor TUT)
Step 2: After You’ve downloaded the file, Open the ‘adbdriver.zip‘ and install ADBDriverInstaller.exe After which Plug in your Zenpad 10 In your PC.
Step 3: Now open the Device Manager by Pressing & holding (Windows + R) at the same time. This will open the Run Box. Which looks like this.
Enter devmgmt.msc. in it and open the device manager. In the device manager. delete/remove any drivers related to Zenpad 10.
Step 4: When you’re done, Unplug your Zenpad 10 from your PC and install the new ADB Drivers. It’s a bit long process so I encourage you to Follow The Official Guide Here
Step 5: After you do that, On your PC Open The Start Menu and then go to Settings then Update & Security / Recovery and then Advanced Startup / Restart Now. Now follow The instructions given in this Guide
Step 6: After your PC restarts immediately plug in your Zenpad 10 and then open the Zenpad 10 Root KIT you’ve downloaded earlier and then open the “ADB Drivers” Folder. In it, you’ll find the ADBDriverInstaller.exe. along with the Manual. There’s no need to read it since it only contains the secret to curing cancer AND NOTHING ELSE.
Keep in mind to not miss-match “ADBDriverInstaller” With “ADBSetup 1.4.3” Although similar, They both are different in this step.
Step 7: After you open the program, you’ll see your device in the main window, click the INSTALL button in the bottom right corner of the screen and Follow prompts to install the drivers. After you’ve successfully installed the drivers. Unplug your Zenpad 10 from your PC!
Step 8: Now this is the last step. Restart computer and run ‘adb-setup-1.4.3.exe’
Select YES to install ADB and Fastboot.
Step 9: Plug in Zenpad 10. Shut down Zenpad 10 after 60 seconds so that Windows sees it correctly.

Rooting Asus Zenpad 10 Using ADB
Step 1: Boot into Fastboot mode by holding down (POWER + VOLUME UP) at the same time or Type in the command “reboot fast boot” In ADB. Once you’re in fast boot mode, execute the following commands:
Step 2: Now Go to C:\\adb Folder. Hold SHIFT & Right Mouse Click while in ADB folder to open the Windows Command Menu.
In the list select “Open Command Window Here“
Or if you’re on Windows 7 Or Above. You Can Type “Command Prompt” In the Windows Search Bar. This should open The Command Prompt Window which should look like this.
Step 3: In the Command Prompt Window you just opened. type the command:
After you enter that command. You should see a number followed by ‘fastboot‘. The number means that Fastboot has detected your Zenpad 10.
Step 4: Now that ADB has detected your Zenpad 10. We’re gonna Unlock its Bootloader.
To do that, Enter the following commands in the DOS Window.
fastboot oem unlock fastboot oem unlock confirm
Step 5: Now we need to install a new Boot Image on your Zenpad 10. Before you flash it, Make sure to copy your new Rooted Boot Image that you’ve downloaded earlier (Example – root-v2-z300c.img) To The above mentioned ADB Folder (C:\\adb Folder)
Step 6: Now finally, In the Command Window type the command:
fastboot boot z300c.img
“The above line is an example! Please type the boot loader file name specific to your model”
This will push the new boot loader to your Zenpad 10! After its done, you can plug out your Zenpad 10 out of your PC and turn it on to see how things goes.
If the method above doesn’t work or is too hard to follow, You can try out this shorter & easier method
Step 1: Again, Boot into Fastboot mode by holding down (POWER + VOLUME UP) at the same time or Type in the command “reboot fast boot” In ADB. Once you’re in fast boot mode, execute the following commands:
fastboot oem unlock fastboot oem unlock confirm fastboot boot root.img
or this code (Credits @himasura):
fastboot oem asus-go fastboot oem asus-go confirm fastboot boot root.img
Step 2: Now you can plug out your Zenpad 10 out of your PC and turn it on.
Things To Keep In Mind:
Thing 1: ROOT-script renames /system/bin/app_process32 and puts in its place a symlink. If you do fastboot boot root.img more than once, Android will not be able to boot and will need to restore the firmware. This issue is fixed in root-v2.img
Thing 2: Some users instead of ROOT gets corrupted firmware (the guy who wrote the tutorial don’t know the cause). Think whether the risk is justified and how you will restore your device?
Thing 3: If you ever want to install an OTA-update, you must uninstall the ROOT from your Zenpad 10 Go to SuperSu -> Settings -> Full Unroot. Otherwise, you may experience boot loops!
Confirming Root Access Via Root Checker
So after you’ve gone through all that, It’s time to see if your Zenpad 10 is successfully Rooted or not. If you’ve tried Rooting your Tablet or any other phone, in general, Before. You’re probably familiar with the Root Checker App. If you’re a newbie however and don’t know what it is. It’s basically what it sounds like. It checks whether your device (In this case Zenpad 10) has root access or not. It is 100% Accurate and I recommend this all the time to check if your phone is really rooted or not.
Step 1: Download the RootChecker app from the Google Play or Google Drive Buttons Above.
Step 2: Install & Open The App.
Step 3: On the main screen Tap the “Verify Root Access” button.
Step 4: If you see a screen similar to this with Heading like “Congrats Your Device Is Rooted” Etc. Then…. Yay!… I guess.
If you, however, got the “Root Not Found” Screen with a Cross over your device name then my friend you need to repeat the “Rooting With ADB” Part. Don’t worry if you failed for the first time. It happens to even Pros like me! So cheer up. And you can always ask me for help in the comment section if you want.
Installing SuperSU On Asus Zenpad 10
After you’ve successfully gained Root Access On Your Zenpad 10. Now What? Well If you know anything about rooting Android then you’ve probably heard of the app “SuperSU”. It’s a Root Permission Manager App. for those who don’t know, SuperSU in a nutshell, Is basically guard that allows or deny any app which wants to get Root Access.
You can’t let every app to gain root access Because Rooting your phone is a double edged sword. Some apps will use it to improve your phone’s performance / Interface while others may just use it to bring Unremovable Viruses. To prevent all that from happening we need a nice little guard which allows us to control which app we want to gain Root access and which we don’t. If you want to learn more about Rooting then you can check out this post.
Step 1: Download the SuperSu app from the Google Play Store Or the Google Drive Buttons above.
Step 2: Install & Open It.
Step 3: Let it initialize the Root Access.
Step 4: It will probably ask for root access with a pop-up tap on “Allow”.
And BOOM! After going through all this your Asus Zenpad 10 is GOD DAMN ROOTED! Seriously, this post took me way longer to write than I expected it to be but It’s finally done!
And That’s It!
