1: Badland
Coming in first on the list is the immensely popular Android & iOS game. Badland, For those who don’t know Badland, is an action based game where you control a little black creature named Clony throughout the woods flying around while avoiding obstacles like falling rocks, machine cogs, and other various stuff. Your main objective is to reach the end of the stage while saving as many other flying creatures that you can.
The Gameplay is similar to LIMBO, Although there isn’t someone chasing you in this game. though, you’ll lose if you stuck at a place for too long. There’s also a Part 2 of this game which has the same concept as the first one. If you want you can check it out as well.
Verdict – I think you’ll enjoy the game If you like Action tap 2D Scrolling based games like Leo’s Fortune, Flappy Bird, etc. The game has a great mix of both action & horror as well as some good soundtracks.
2: Soul Hunters
Honestly, When I first played Soul Hunters a few months ago. I was searching for some light weight Online RPG game that I can play while on the go. Cuz I can’t play my favorite PC RPG’s all the time. Anyways, I have to say for a mobile game, I wasn’t expecting much from this. But Ohh man was I wrong! The game has around over 50 heroes that you can unlock and add in your Hero Party which has a max limit of 6 Heroes.
You can play through the normal story of the game (which is quite generic but Okay) You can also take your party to Challenge other players Hero Party from Soul Hunters 80+ Million Player Base. All in all, A complete RPG Experience that is not held back by its limitation to the mobile platform.
Verdict – I really enjoyed playing Soul Hunters as it basically had everything I was looking for in A Mobile RPG. If you’re just like me and you are a fan of RPG then you should definitely give Soul Hunter a try.
3: Limbo
LIMBO as some of you may know, Is regarded one of the best Indie Horror Games ever. The game was originally released for the Xbox Arcade back in 2010 and was ported to several other platforms including Android later down the road. As I mentioned earlier, LIMBO has a similar gameplay style as Badlands with some exceptions like not being able to fly. Though I can say for sure that LIMBO is way more on the horror side than Badlands.
In the game, You control the main character LIMBO who is a nameless boy who woke up in the middle of a forest on the “Edge Of Hell” and has to search for his sister. You can use the controls to jump, climb & run through the Beautiful 2D World of the game where you encounter different types of obstacles.
Verdict – If you like indie Horror story games that have a dark tone to them then you’ll probably enjoy LIMBO. Though I still recommend you to just play it even if you don’t like darker games as it has a great story.
4: Monument Valley
Unlike other games on this list, Monument Valley is more based towards puzzle solving ability. In Monument Valley, You help the main character Princes Ida and guide her go through various types of mazes with optical illusions by manipulating the world around her. What makes this game special is that every puzzle requires a different type of thinking as it gets more & more difficult the more you play it. The game has great visuals with good soundtracks. The game was released back in May of 2014 for both Android & iOS by Ustwo Games.
Verdict – Like I said above, This game is more based towards puzzle solving So if you are more into action types of games, then maybe –
Monument Valley May Not Fit Your Alley
But if you do like puzzle solving games or games that have puzzle solving elements then you’ll most likely find Monument Valley enjoyable.
5: Alto’s Adventures
Last up on the list is Alto’s Adventure, An endless side-scrolling snowboarding game developers by A three-person Indie based developer team. And I have to say that for a team of three, They did a pretty great job! The game has fantastic visuals along with a calm & soothing soundtrack that just makes you wanna grab one board yourself and jump of Mt.Everest. (Kidding) The gameplay controls are pretty basic. You control a character with a snowboard drifting across beautiful landscapes and performing some cool jumps up hills to collect points, complete goals etc.
Verdict – If you’re looking for a calm & soothing game that has great visuals coupled with some great soundtracks. You should try Alto Adventure, It’s fun and Unlike LIMBO & Badlands, It doesn’t require too much brain.
