Best Android Nougat ROM | Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 | XenonHD
So What is the best Android Nougat ROM for Samsung Galaxy Tab 3? if you do a bit of Googling, you’ll find that there are plenty of Android Nougat ROM’s For the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. So why XenonHD? Well, Like I said above. I’ve tried every Android Nougat ROM that is made for this tablet and I can assure you that out of the bunch that I’ve tried, XenonHD gave me the best experience. And I think it’ll give you too! So let’s start with the screenshots.
All of the screenshots you’ve seen above are from Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 with a bit of tinkering with the settings & customized home screen for an overall dark theme.
Frankly, I can point a lot of reasons why this ROM is best from the rest. But to keep this post to a reasonable length. I’m going to mention the 3 major reasons here.
Reason 1: Really Customizable.
It’s A lot customizable! The ROM comes with Substratum pre-installed. For those of you who don’t know, Substratum is an awesome System theming engine which uses Sony’s app layer system to customize specific parts of an app. So you can, for example, Just change the theme of Youtube to be dark while keeping everything else normal. Or you can just dive in and change the whole system theme.
And yes, I know that Substratum can be downloaded as a standalone app on any ROM and I have used it on Ressurection Remix 5.8.4 as well various other ROMs but based on my use, it works best on XenonHD.
The ROM also has its own configuration panel which features a lot of different types of customizations as well such as
- Double tap on the notification panel to sleep.
- Day & Night Settings Theme.
- Status Bar Configuration.
- Double Tap Power Button To Launch Camera.
- And Much More.
As for the Home Launcher, XenonHD comes with Nova Launcher Built in which is pretty much the best Android launcher out there in terms of customizability.
Reason 2: Best Performance.
The Performance of this ROM is by far the best I’ve out of every other ROM for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3. And I’m not saying this out of the blue, I have tested other ROMs with Antutu Benchmark and although all the other Android Nougat ROMs such as LineageOS 14.1 and Ressurection Remix 5.8.4 Scored pretty similar to XenonHD. The ROM still pulled ahead.
- LineageOS 14.1 = 25202
- Ressurection Remix 5.8.4 = 24908
- XenonHD = 25701
*All of the ROMs were freshly installed when tested.
Reason 3: Great Battery Backup
The ROM has one of the best battery backups along with great battery Standby time that I’ve seen based on my testing. Especially the Standby time when you compare that to Android Lollipop or Kitkat. You can see a huge difference. Right now, with my daily use, I can easily manage to watch full 1-2 hours of Youtube videos with WIFI on with only dropping to 50-60% territory.
Other use such as reading on just scrolling through social media will give you a long battery life. As for the standby time, Expect to charge the device till 100% before bed & waking up at 98-99% you can pretty much leave it around for a day and pick it back up with around the same amount of charge left. Kinda like an iPad.
Here’s a list of the other features that you’ll get with the ROM.
- Build In Google Assistant
- XenonHD Changelog
- NovaLauncher, Adaway, Kernel Adiutor, SuperSU
- Root, adb, dev options, advanced reboot & installing apks enabled by default
- Pixel UI, navbar, wallpaper
- Material sounds & icons
- DayNight theme
- Network indicator & battery bar in status bar
- Live Volume Steps
- DT2S on lockscreen
- Custom Quick Settings Tiles
- Removed unnecessary things
- Under the hood improvements and optimizations

Step 5: Booting UP
Once the flashing process is done, Reboot your device WITHOUT flashing GApps.
UPDATE: No, Please flash GApps after your first boot. Trust me, I had stability issues when I flashed it with Nano GApps.
NOTE: Although I’ll usually advise you to install GApps right after you install the ROM but in this case, I’ll suggest you do a reboot first. Since most GApps right now seems to crash on the Setup screen. However, you can install GApps after you finish the first boot. Just remember to not wipe any data before & after the flash.
