Hey, What’s going on guys? My name is Akash, and today I’m back with another tech post, this time, doing a full post about “What Is Rooting?” & “Why Should I Root?“. This post is for those who are new to the android development and wants to know what does the term “Rooting” means and whether they should root their phones or not. So if you find this post helpful, please share it with your friends & family. Anyways, Without any further ado. Let’s start!
What Is Rooting?
So, Let’s start with the most basic question. “What Is Rooting An Android Device Means?” Well, To tell you in basic terms. Rooting is jailbreaking for Android, It allows the user to go deeper into their phone’s core system and customize/modify it to their liking. It’s just like being the BOSS of your phone! You can do pretty much anything you want.
Consider it like this:
Imagine your phone is a car which can run at 200 KM per hour at its top speed. But for safety measure, the manufacturer of the car limits it’s speed at 100 KM per hour. Now, 100 KM per hour is still pretty fast! but you’ll never be able to reach the cars max potential Without breaking the seal. With root access, you can not only pass the 100Kmph speed limit but you can go even faster than 200!
Why You Should Root Your Device
Now after understanding what rooting is, You must be wondering whether you should root your phone or not? Well, to help you make your decision I’ve list the 3 Main reasons you should consider rooting your phone.
1: You Can Uninstall App App!
After gaining Root Access over your phone. You can remove/uninstall any pre-installed app that came in with the phone that eats too much space but is utterly useless. If you’re interested in this, I’ve done guide on how to do this check it out here
2: You Can HACK Any App!

With rooting, the users can overclock their phones hardware to a pretty substantial amount, giving them some extra performance & battery life with the same hardware which would’ve otherwise been never used. I’ve also done some tutorials on how to overclock your smartphone in the past. Although a bit old, they still work.
Honestly, There are a lot of more reasons you should consider Rooting your phone, But for the sake of keeping this post short. I’ve listed the main reasons one should root their phone If you want to learn the other advantages of Rooting your phone check out this post by Droidtipstrick where he mentions the other 10 reasons why you should root your phone
Why You Shouldn’t Root Your Device
Well, everything has its pros & cons. And Although Rooting your phone may sound like it has everything going for it. It still has it’s own setbacks which may or may not affect your decision about rooting your phone. So once again I’ve listed 3 Main Reasons that you SHOULDN’T Root your phone.
1: Say Good Bye To Warranty
Rooting your device isn’t something that manufacturers appreciate. as such, Rooting your device will break the warranty of your phone and you’ll no longer be able to send it for repair if anything happens to it. But considering there are thousands of tutorials on how to fix broken smartphones on the internet. This may not be the biggest problem,
2: Security Risks
Like I said before, Rooting your phone will grant you access to almost everything on it. You can edit/delete or modify any file on your phone. But keep in mind that every power comes with a responsibility! Giving Root access to malicious apps can give them the chance to corrupt or even delete important files from your phone. and not only that, they can even soft brick your phone.
But don’t get all panicked about all this! Remember, the user needs to grant root access to the app first. So it’s always a good idea to idea to do some research on applications that are asking for root permissions.
3: No More Official Updates
Now, this may differ from device to device, But one of the biggest reasons some people are afraid of rooting their phones is because they are afraid of loosing the official updates they receive every time a new software update is released. And although you can update your device’s software manually, It’s still a pretty time-consuming thing for most people.
But if you want to update your device manually but don’t know how to? Check out the “ROMs” section of our site! I’ve done a lot of tutorials on flashing ROMs on a wide range of smartphones.
I’ve put all the reasons on whether you should root your device or not. But if you’re still not sure, maybe you should ask yourself.
WHAT YOU’LL DO AFTER ROOTING YOUR PHONE?
This may sound a bit funny, but a lot of people who root their phones actually have no idea of what they are going to do with it. I mean like seriously if you’re going to root your phone make sure that you’re going to make good use of it.
And that’s pretty much it! I hope this post helped you clear up some of your doubts about Rooting your phone. And if it did, I can’t be any happier than that!
